Wheat type for spaghetti

  • It was developed for wet areas and areas that receive lots of rain.
  • Its reaction to water and fertilizer is high.
  • Productivity per decare is 500-900 kg in wet lands.
  • It is appropriate for wet and lots of rain receiving areas of Inner Anatolia and Gate Regions.
  • It has red spikes and awns.
  • Its seed quality is average.
  • It has high yield of semolina, its color is at acceptable level.
  • Hectoliter weight is 76-86 kg and weight of one thousand seeds is 38-46 g, protein level is12-15, sedimentation value is between (SDS) 45 - 60 ml.
  • Its height is around 100 cm.
  • It tolerates tilting and winter but it is sensitive to draught.
  • It needs to be watered.
  • It has high desire for water and fertilizer.
  • For high productivity and quality the water-fertilizer balance must be well adjusted.
  • It has average resistance against leaf and flower diseases.
  • It keeps its seeds well and it is easy to harvest and thresh.
  • It has average sensitivity towards root diseases.

Cultivating

In Inner Anatolia and Passage / Gate Regions, it is recommended to be planted during the month of October using18-20 kg of seeds per decare.  Number and times to irrigate, amount of fertilizer and time of application must be very well organized according to the level of productivity required.    If no analyses have been done about this subject, recommendation of fertilizing according to expected productivity is as below:
Productivity 600-800 kg: 9-10 kg of P2O5 is recommended per decare during planting.  Together with spring fertilization, total N gets topped off to 16-18 kg.
Productivity above 800 kg: 10-12 kg of P2O5 is recommended per decare during planting. In spring the amount of N gets topped off to19-21 kg.
Nitrogenous fertilizers to be used during planting and towards the end of plant development will increase the quality of seed.  Therefore, the top fertilizer must be given in 2 - 3 parts and including the final watering; all together with water if possible.  In early spring it should not have any water problems.  Time of irrigation is at least two in areas receiving 300-350 mm of rain.

There is no need to water after October if fall rains are on time and sufficient and if not sprouting problems are encountered.  Time of irrigation / watering must be adjusted according to rain and water demand of plant.  After the two irrigations are done, the plant is ready for tillering-stalking, pre-spiking and seed-fattening phases.   If more watering is going to be done; it is recommended that they are realized in phases of tillering, tillering-stalking, pre – spiking and seed – fattening.  It is important to give the spring water on an earlier time during those years that the winter rains are not sufficient and early spring is passing dry.
